PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA, 13 April 2021 – Responding to ongoing customer and market trends, Ford South Africa is launching new accessories and feature upgrades that will be made available throughout its network of over 100 dealers countrywide. These accessories have been developed and tested to carry Ford’s original equipment quality and workmanship guarantee.

“Constant market evaluation and clear communication with our customers and dealers has given Ford SA the necessary agility required to enhance the Ford Ranger to meet the needs of our customers,” says Dale Reid, Product Marketing Manager at Ford South Africa. “We believe this is the right time to introduce these Ford-approved upgrades to the South African market and thereby provide an expansive and diverse product offering.”

“It is also essential that we warn customers about the possible risks and dangers of fitting non-approved accessories to their vehicles. These can have a negative impact on the vehicle’s safety and performance, and could impact the vehicle’s warranty. Customers are urged to discuss the fitment of accessories with their Ford dealer beforehand,” Reid says.

Ranger Raptor-style Grille

Owners of the new Ranger XL, XLS and XLT derivatives are now able to upgrade to a more purposeful presence thanks to the factory-approved Raptor-style alternative grille. Unlike imitation grilles which can negatively affect the car’s performance and cooling, this Raptor-style grille with its familiar chunky lettering for the Ford logo is a genuine Ford accessory and will therefore not compromise the Ranger’s capability in any way.

Fitment of the alternative grille, which carries a suggested retail price of R4 312 including VAT, takes approximately 30 minutes at a Ford dealer. Pricing does not include labour.

Power Roller Shutter

The manual roller shutter option currently available on the Wildtrak has now been upgraded to a power roller shutter at no additional cost. Exclusive to the Ranger Wildtrak, the power roller shutter allows a customer to electronically open or close the protective shutter over the loadbox and provides a convenient method to securely stow cargo out of sight.

Compared to the manual roller shutter, which will remain an alternative option, the power roller shutter can be securely locked in any position (versus the manual roller shutter which can be locked in three specific positions). The power roller shutter has also been designed with an anti-pinch feature to prevent injury or damage when contact is made with an object.

Bespoke buttons on the key fob, instrument panel and inside the load box assist in making the power roller shutter as convenient to use as possible. Due to the revised architecture points, the power roller shutter cannot be fitted as an aftermarket accessory and needs to be specified when ordering the Wildtrak from your dealer.

Above the roller shutter is a rail and accessory attachment slot for extra leisure gear like bike racks, kayaks and camping equipment.

Pricing for the power roller shutter is R20 090 including VAT.

Faraday Pouch

Ford has also introduced the Faraday pouch for Ford owners whose vehicles are equipped with keyless start functionality.

The Faraday pouch is an anti-scan wallet that provides customers with a cost-effective and convenient solution for preventing keyless car theft. This opportunistic theft is particularly common around shopping malls. In many instances, criminals have found a way to steal vehicles fitted with keyless start by using signal extenders which can be effective up to distances of 100 metres.

The Faraday Pouch is able to prevent this type of criminal attack. With the vehicle’s key placed inside the Faraday Pouch, the layers of metallic lining prevent these external signals from having any effect on the key. It is recommended that the key be placed inside this slim and lightweight pouch as soon as you get out the vehicle and the doors are locked.

The suggested retail price for the Faraday pouch is R260 including VAT, and is available from your local dealer.
